We’ve all been there right? These common beauty mistakes.. they just had to be made. Nobody starts out at a pro at anything, we have to begin somewhere to learn! So it’s nothing to be ashamed about, but I thought this would be a fun post to see who can relate, or maybe who can’t relate! Who knows.. maybe all of this is just me and then… well… that’s just awkward isn’t it?
Alright, let’s dive right in!
Beauty Mistake #1: Contouring like a clown..
When you’re first starting out on your contour & highlight game, it’s hard to MASTER it! Maybe for some people, it comes more naturally.. for me, it definitely didn’t. Actually to be brutally honest, I didn’t really master the art of contour until about 1-2 months ago.. embarrassing right? Anybody else similar to me and found it hard to nail this art?
I feel like there’s a lot of factors that come into play that could make or break your contour – the brush you use, the shade of contour, the strokes you do, how hard you push the brush on your face, how much product you use, etc.. it’s so complex! Anyways, luckily we have Youtube to teach us the magic!
Beauty Mistake #2: NOT doing your eyebrows.
Oh no no no. We have ALL been there, do not lie to me now and tell me you have not. For a long time when I started in the makeup world, I would do my ENTIRE face, except my eyebrows. Meaning, I would do all my face makeup, eyeshadow, and then leave my eyebrows as is. It looked so incomplete!
The magic of an eyebrow gel or filling in your eyebrows is amazing truly. It really does complete the look and changes your entire makeup look! Ever since I discovered filling in your eyebrows, my makeup game has forever changed.
Beauty Mistake #3: Not blending in your eyeshadow.
I feel like this is something else that is a common mistake many people make, and still could occasionally make. When you want to add in other colors to your eyeshadow and you fail to blend, it ends up looking so crease cut and just not pretty. The magic of adding a fluffy brush and BLENDING!
Again, brushes are just so important when it comes to doing your makeup properly!
Beauty Mistake #4: Applying too much concealer.
Sometimes, I may have applied a bit too much concealer and ended up looking either like a complete ghost or just like someone smashed a cake in my face. Anybody relate? It happens.. I think I need so much coverage but then it turns out, I just poured the whole bottle onto my face, whoops.
Beauty Mistake #5: SLEEPING with makeup on!
I have actually never in my 21 years on Earth done this, can you believe that? I have always managed to take my makeup off before bed! Maybe that isn’t such an amazing accomplishment, but I still feel proud! I have this listed however because I do still see this as a common beauty mistake others make, and it’s a big no-no for your skin!
Beauty Mistake #6: Not washing your makeup brushes.
I have to get better at this myself, I admit it. Supposedly, it’s really crucial to clean your makeup brushes regularly with a mild shampoo or instant brush cleaner to prevent breaking out or even to keep your makeup looking fresh! I do try to do this every so often, but I could definitely do this more and get into a routine!
Beauty Mistake #7: Forgetting to prime!
Priming your skin before putting on makeup is actually a huge impact as to whether the application will turn out good or bad! A primer is supposed to hold your makeup in place for a longer period fo time – ever since I discovered primers, I have never stopped using them! I absolutely am obsessed with priming before I apply any makeup to ensure I have long-lasting coverage all day long.
Alright guys those are the 7 common beauty mistakes I could come up with using both my personal experiences and people around me! I am so curious to see if you related to ANY of these I mentioned, or if you have your own beauty mistakes to share below? Let me know!
I hate to say it but I sometimes still sleep with my makeup on!! I make an effort each night to make sure I don’t but sometimes I’m so tired! This list is so accurate! ❤️

We’re all human and make mistakes don’t we? Glad you found the list relatable! ♡
What a great list! I don’t really wear make up that often but when I do, I find contouring the trickiest. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one! Luckily most of the time, I have my friends to help me!

Glad you liked the list! Yes, contouring is definitely tricky to master! Glad you have friends to help you, that definitely makes it a lot easier! xo
Because I barely put on any makeup, I have not made many beauty mistakes. Even at my drunkest, I have always removed my eyeliner before going to bed!

That’s so funny, to be honest same here! I always just make sure I take off my make up before I go to sleep, no excuses lol, I”m so OCD about that. Thanks for stopping by xo
I still forget to prime to this day! haha!
But yes I have done ALL of these and some of them were part of my everyday makeup when I was till learning about makeup haha

There’s still some things I make mistakes on as well to this day haha, we’re not perfect! Glad you found this post relatable! Thanks for stopping by lovely xo
Great post dear. The only mistake I make is forgetting to prime 😂.
I’m not a fan of eyeshadows, contouring and highlighting with concealer except once in a while. But I make sure I blend my shadows really well. I have an oily skin and concealer tends to break out my t-zones 🤷.
I do wash my brushes right after using them, I’m such a freak 🤣. I’ve never ever slept with my makeup on.

Wow sounds like you have amazing makeup hygiene! Good for you that you clean your brushes right after you use them! I will never be that girl, lol! xo
I hate to admit I’m so guilty of sleeping in my makeup I’m getting better but I can get so lazy sometimes! I agree my makeup doesn’t look complete without brows now and I’ve just bought a primer to test as I’ve never used them before, do you have a favourite?

We’re all human, it happens! I love primer it makes such a difference! Currently I am obsessed with this primer by Arbonne Cosmetics – http://www.arbonne.com/PWS/ChelseaHodges/store/AMUS/product/Makeup-Primer-7825,1597,261.aspx – totally vegan and chemical free! It’s helped actually clear my skin! xo
Yes, yes, yes and yes again to all of these! I used to make so many of these mistakes and like you said, it’s all thanks to YouTube that I got better! Washing my makeup brushes is the one thing that I don’t do enough, I need to do it every week!

Glad you found all this so relatable and I’m not the only one! Youtube is SUCH a life-saver to fixing it all, thank god for it! xo
Oh my god, the no eyebrow days were horrific. I think I was in my first year of uni before I started doing mine, and I’m blonde so my eyebrows are basically invisible for most of my teen years. The lack of eyeshadow blending is another unfortunate phase I went through x

Yes! Honestly something I think we just all deal with at some point in our makeup phase.. lucky for you you have blonde hair! I’m brunette so I can’t get away without filling my brows in! Thanks for stopping by xo
Great post! I used to be so guilty of doing my makeup and not my eyebrows omg!

Lol I’m sure we have ALL been there in that phase, thanks for stopping by girl! xo
I am the worse at cleaning my makeup brushes. It is such a chore to do them, especially when you have as many brushes as I do. I am so guilty of just spraying them with tea tree oil and thinking that’s enough.
Great list! x

I totally agree, the cleaning brushes is such a hassle, I have to improve this myself! Thanks for stopping by! xo
Yes these are really common mistakes. I still remember my past days when I contour with such a dark shade because I thought that you have to contour with dark shade poor me😉😉 Secondly unblended eyeshadow days of my school time.

Glad you found these relatable! Unblended eyeshadow was a huge mistake I made too back a few years back haha, thanks for stopping by! xo
