5 Ways To Be More Positive Right Now

Sometimes, we want nothing more than to just crawl up into a hole and hide away for a while from this thing called life.. sometimes life is just, blegh. It’s not easy, it gets challenging, we all face obstacles and carry some sort of baggage behind us whether we want to admit it or not. However, the saying, “It’s not what happens to you that matters, it’s HOW you react to it”, couldn’t be truer honestly. So here’s some ways to try and be more positive in the hard times, at least how I do my best to be positive, and I hope it can help you.

1. Will it matter in 5 years time?

I have to put this in here because I know people always say this, but it is TRUE. Think about this when you are feeling upset or negative over something.. will it actually matter and bother you in 5 years from now? Most likely not. So why sweat it and why let it drag you down then?

2. Take time out for you.

In the moments you feel that life is getting to you, and the stress is getting the best of you, that is the time you need to take a moment and breathe. Take a step back, and recollect yourself, not many people actually do this. We get so caught up in the go go go constant action of life, we forget to STOP, BREATHE, and RELAX. Whether that is watching a quick favorite TV show you’ve been missing, getting your favorite food, catching up with an old friend, go do it. I promise you will feel 10x better.

3. Remember you have only so much control.

I struggle with this myself, I am constantly letting others’ behaviors stress me out. In these times, you have to remember YOU only have control over YOURSELF. That is all. We cannot control whether that person does this task, or if our friend follows our advice, etc.. In this life, you can only control you, so focus on that and know that. Let others do them, and let life work itself out. In the meantime, be your best self, improve yourself, and you will feel good.

4. Write down 10 things you are grateful for.

When I heard this suggestion, I thought it was seriously so cheesy and corny, but it seriously works! In fact, try to turn this into a daily habit! If you wake up each morning, and dedicate just a few minutes to jot down why you are grateful today, you will instantly train your mind to wake up and be in a better mood to start your day!

5. Listen to the music that replicates the mood you WANT to be in.

This tip for me was a game-changer. Usually, when we are sad or unhappy, it is instinct to turn on sad music, right? Well, train yourself here to start turning on HAPPY music, or positive music when you feel down. It may feel odd.. but you will seriously notice a major mood change. Turn on your favorite song or favorite artist, these simple little things will turn your day from negative to positive in a second!

I hope these mini tips can help you on your next day where you’re not feeling so hot, let me know what you usually like to do when you’re feeling down or need to get motivated, I’d love to hear about it!

Some great tips here! I always find that writing a list of what I’m grateful for or what makes me happy really helps me – you end up writing loads down without realising! It’s funny how we tend to focus more on the negative things more than the positive.

It’s so important to remember #3! I always forget that there are so many things that I don’t have control over and that the only thing I can really control is myself and my actions!
